Taking in Mississippi River Views While Gaining Fresh Insights at the Fall 2025 Healthcare HR Management Institute in The Big Easy
At last month’s Healthcare HR Management Institute, senior Healthcare HR executives gathered at the beautiful riverfront Four Seasons hotel located in the French Quarter, to connect, collaborate, and uncover strategies and solutions for some of the major challenges and concerns weighing on the minds of Healthcare HR leaders today. Through inspiring panel sessions, thought provoking presentations, interactive roundtable and think tank discussions, and informative business meetings, attendees explored themes of strategic workforce planning, employee engagement, skills recalibration, and the integration of technology and AI into healthcare HR practices for overall organizational sustainability, growth, and success.
The event kicked off with a powerhouse panel of healthcare Chief HR Officers sharing how change is impacting their organizations and the importance of culturally aligned approaches to change implementation. The session emphasized the importance of employee ownership in change initiatives and how aligning HR practices with organizational culture improves outcomes.
Later in the day, sessions focused on rewriting workforce strategy, constructing skills-based career pathways, turning data overload into actionable insights, and leveraging AI for fast and effective healthcare hiring.
The day concluded with a welcome cocktail and dinner function on the hotel’s 34th floor observation deck, “Vue Orleans.” The evening offered stunning panoramic views of the river and cityscape at sunset while partaking in local fare and swaying to the beat of some classic jazz and soulful hits.
Following a delicious breakfast spread, the second day of the event commenced back in the main session room with a dynamic panel of passionate culture keepers sharing innovative strategies and unique organizational examples for building a culture that amplifies employee experience to improve retention and patient outcomes. This discussion was followed by a dynamic presentation addressing the mental health and financial sustainability of healthcare workers, highlighting trauma-informed care and burnout prevention.
Later in the day, interactive Think Tank discussions allowed attendees to collaborate on an array of topics such as investing in employee learning and development, combating declining engagement, attracting talent through employer branding, strengthening employee retention, simplifying technology enablement, and innovating approaches to mental health and employee wellbeing.
The day wrapped up with cocktails, dinner, and live musical entertainment at the Miss River Restaurant. The indoor and outdoor dinning experience offered an elevated take on several New Orleans favorites and spectacular creole cuisine. The relaxed networking environment allowed attendees to take in a live jazz band while connecting with old and new friends alike.
On the final day of the event, attendees started the day by “huddling up” to take part in the breakout Leadership Roundtable discussions. Conversations focused on low-cost employee engagement strategies, workplace safety, improving candidate engagement, and overcoming workforce staffing hurdles. These discussions emphasized practical solutions for pressing workforce challenges.
The morning continued with an impactful presentation on the “Ripple Effect”, which explored how caregiver well-being directly influences patient experience, advocating for a culture of recognition and support. Attendees were encouraged to bring home a stone reminding them of the ripple effect they make every small step they take to enhance the caregiver experience and, ultimately patient care.
The event concluded with a dynamic panel on future-focused talent strategies. Panelists discussed building effective recruitment pipelines, identifying internal high-potential employees, and investing in leadership development to ensure long-term workforce success.
This Fall 2025 iteration of the Healthcare HR Management Institute underscored the abundance and complexity of issues facing healthcare HR professionals today. From navigating political shifts to embracing innovation, and supporting employees through it all, attendees were able to return to work with actionable insights, a greater network, and renewed clarity on their role in shaping the future of healthcare.
